Biography of David B. Dearborn : typed copy, 1965 May 19.

Brief biography, divided into chapters, as written by and dictated to journalist Myron Lewis Scott. The narrative, which alternates between reportage and autobiographical reminiscence, describes Dearborn's childhood and youth, his voyage to Calif. in 1851 during the Gold Rush, and his years in Brooklyn working and raising a family. Includes a reminiscence about the Civil War years, and is framed by Scott's contemporary descriptions of Dearborn. Also includes a brief cover sheet text by Roger D. Lapham.

Dearborn was the grandfather of Roger Dearborn Lapham, mayor of San Francisco from 1944-1937. He sailed to San Francisco from New York as a young man in 1851 as the purser aboard a steamer.
